Melissa Carnemolla

Melissa Carnemolla è una fotografa italiana, il cui lavoro si concentra su comunità e dinamiche sociali spesso marginalizzate. Dopo una formazione iniziale come interior designer, ha intrapreso la fotografia nel 2015. Ha co-fondato e co-diretto “Gazebook: Sicily Photobook Festival” (2015–2017) e ha studiato presso la Royal Academy of Art de L’Aia. Il suo lavoro include progetti come Behind the Dream, La commande est passée e What The Dams Kept Safe. Con The Island Within the Island, suo progetto di laurea, esplora lo sfruttamento agricolo nella Sicilia sud-orientale. Attualmente vive nei Paesi Bassi e continua a sviluppare una pratica focalizzata su sostenibilità, relazioni umane e giustizia sociale.

Melissa Carnemolla is an Italian photographer whose work focuses on communities and social dynamics often overlooked by mainstream narratives. Originally trained as an interior designer, she turned to photography in 2015. She co-founded and co-directed “Gazebook: Sicily Photobook Festival” (2015–2017) and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Her projects include Behind the Dream, La commande est passée, and What The Dams Kept Safe. Her graduation work, The Island Within the Island, investigates agricultural exploitation in southeastern Sicily. Based in the Netherlands, she continues to explore themes of sustainability, human relationships, and social justice through her photographic practice.
